An Idea for a Script : A call for creative people to share their ideas.

Theatr Fach Llangefni recently announced their new scheme called 'An Idea for a Script' to attract more writers to share their ideas, for the opportunity to develop their work at Theatr Fach Llangefni.

'An Idea for a Script' is intended to find creative people who have creative ideas and are keen to develop them. No matter your age, anyone can take part.

The theatre accepts applications of all kinds - be it a sketch, a review, a drama, a panto or any kind of alternative theatre. The decision is entirely up to you.

The person selected to develop their idea will have the opportunity to collaborate with the theatre, and also the opportunity to develop their idea with author and playwright Gareth Evans Jones. A lecturer at Bangor University, Gareth has published a novel depicting the experiences of the Jews during the Holocaust, Eira Llwyd ['Grey Snow'] (Gwasg y Bwthyn). Eira Llwyd was named Book of the Month for November 2018 by the Welsh Book Council. Also, in the 2019 the National Eisteddfod held at Llanrwst, Gareth was awarded the Drama Medal for his play, Adar Papur ['paper birds'], which was produced by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru ['The National Theatre of Wales'] in 2020.

Gareth was recently successful for the second time, winning the drama medal in the Eisteddfod Amgen 2021 with his play Cadi Ffan a Jan.

Gareth Evans-Jones said: 'It's a pleasure to be part of the 'An Idea for a Script' scheme run by Theatr Fach Llangefni. It's important that we offer new playwrights the opportunity to share and develop their ideas at the theatre.'

He added - 'I'm looking forward to working with one lucky person to develop their idea, and it will be really nice to see their idea performed in front of a live theatre audience. I urge anyone to go for it, your idea doesn't have to be perfect or complete, we just need a rough idea - go for it!'

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with Gareth Evans-Jones to develop their ideas and have the opportunity to showcase their work at the theatre in front of a live audience in 2022.

If you are interested, all you have to do is send your initial idea (no more than one side of A4) to the email address - syniadamsgripttheatrfach@gmail.com before the closing date on - Monday, 6 September 2021.
