The stage curtains at Theatr Fach Llangefni closed on the recently succesful production - Helynt yn Halibadŵ.
The pantomime ended at Theatr Fach Llangefni last weekend. Helynt yn Halibadŵ was the first production for Theatr Fach to stage since closing due to Covid.
It has been a great pleasure to be back on stage again entertaining the local community. Although this year's audiences were only at half capacity, the tickets sold out very quickly, proving that Anglesey and Llangefni have certainly missed all the shows that were being staged in the theatre before Covid-19.
Theatre Chair Llio Mai said "It's been far too long without a production on the stage, so it was great to be able to welcome our audiences back to the theatre over a 6 day period with the panotmime as our first production, and the feedback has been extremely positive.
She added "I would like to extend my thanks as chair to all those who were so willing to support us as a theatre - the cast and the children, the volunteers and the audiences. Everyone was ready to work together to show their covid passes and follow the extra guidelines, and it really made our jobs as volunteers so much easier. ”
One who was in the theatre during the week was the author Marlyn Samuel.
She said - "One of the highlights of Theatr Fach's calendar is undoubtedly the annual Pantomime. There wasn't a pantomime last year of course due to Covid, so it was great to welcome the pantomime back this year, and it was great to watch and enjoy a brand new pantomime written especially for the crew by Caryl Bryn and Carwyn Jones.
"The audience weren't disappointed. The essential elements needed in a pantomime were all there; The dame, Mrs Blodwen Halibalŵ, who was played by the brilliant Gethin Rees Roberts, the evil green witch, Derwela Drwynhir played by Caryl Bryn, the comedic duo, Dai and Derfel played with perfect comedic timing by Alun Lloyd Roberts and Gethin Williams. There was plenty of fun, slapstick and funny touches like the scene where the turkey was burnt in the oven and the dame repairing the clothes line. It was lovely to hear the laughter and the audience's reaction echoing through the auditorium again. Many congratulations to the young, enthusiastic and talented crew. The future of Theatr Fach is safe in their hands.
We very much hope that the pantomime is just the beginning of many more productions, and as the theatre's management committee, we will be working hard to provide a full calendar of productions and events in 2022 depending on Covid's current situation.
